A Great New Find...

Hello Friends!!

I only have a minute to post today...these past couple of weeks have been super busy for me and I haven't had much time to get on here.

Sadly, the only reason I have time today is because I am waiting for the cable guy...SIGH...that is always so boring isn't it? Waiting for "any" repair guy always bores me to tears!!! Obviously I can't watch TV...and I feel like I can't take out a project to work on because I hate having a mess for them to see...and I am the biggest MESS MAKER when I am working on a project...fabrics and treads everywhere!!! But, it was today or later in the week, so I set it up for today!

I want to thank everyone for all of the nice comments, and especially all of the prayers and kind thoughts you are all sending to my friend Margie's little Kristin. She and their family are very appreciative and so am I!! I will up-date you on her progress as I hear from Margie.

We had a very busy weekend. My husband was a dear and took off work early on Friday so he could go with me to an antiques show in Delafield. (WI)

I wasn't sure how the show would be...I went to it a few times many years ago, but hadn't been there for about fifteen years. Let me tell you...IT WAS WELL WORTH GOING!!!

There was a very nice variety of antiques there, so a little something for everyone, and the prices were fair for the most part. I found one of the things on my list, but refrained from any impulse buying....which I could have done plenty of, let me tell you!!!

Did you ever leave a shop or show and kick yourself for not buying something??? I have and I always said that I would never do it again...but I did this time!!! I hate it when that happens, but I did it again, and I am now regretting it!!! (more on that subject in another post)

I did however, find a darling, small, early carrier in the best old dark green paint!!! It was the size that I collect and unusual because it is a little deeper than most that I see. It also has a sweet little heart-shaped cut out for the handle.

Here...take a peek for yourself....

I call these "carriers" some folks call them "totes" or "knife boxes"...what ever the correct name is, I love them!!

The things that I love about this one are first, the wonderful old dark green paint...and look at how deep it is!

Here is that darling little heart-shaped cut out handle...LOVE THAT!!!

The wear is very cool, don't you think???

There is a small repair that was made a long time ago with small square head nails...I love to see repairs on old things. To me, that only means that it was loved or needed so much that it's owner (at the time) took the necessary steps to preserve it and keep it around for a while longer...thankfully, now I get to keep it around for a while too!! :)

Well, my friends...like I said...not a lot of time today, so I will leave you now with another heart-felt THANK YOU!! I appreciate you stopping by and especially appreciate your prayers for sweet little Kristin!!

Have a wonderful week!!!

Tina

  5. Tina,
Your carrier is absolutely wonderful! Lucky you to find another for your collection. I love how you had them in your stepback cupboard. So simple but with several made a nice statement.

I'm keeping Kristin in my prayers. Blessings to her and her family. Hugs, Lori

  6. Hi Tina,
What a great little carrier...green...with a heart...you did good!!! Like Lori, I think your collection displayed in your cupboard looks so good.
We have all regretted that special something that we left behind. I once passed up an antique cloth black doll that I still kick myself for not buying, and it was over twenty years ago!!! However, a husband that takes a day off to take you to an antique show?...I think you came home..and went there too...with something very special! He's a keeper!
    Big hug,
    Robyn

  9. Awesome find! And as to the mess for strangers to see...who cares? I bet they've seen a lot worse than little messes made in the name of creativity!

  10. Tina,

I love worn and repaired, too. I guess I think of myself as worn and repaired by God and thankful that He sees me all day, every day.

I love your carrier, too, and have a couple myself. They are so handy for seasonal decorating.

    Blessings,
    Pam
